MAX Therapy for Adults

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapists are movement experts who improve quality of life through prescribed exercises, functional activities. hands-on care, and patient education.

By listening to the patient's concerns and observing movement patterns, PT's can  begin identifying root causes of concern.

We diagnose the movement dysfunction and formulate a care plan for patients who have injuries, disabilities, or other health conditions that need treatment. We also consider overall wellness of individuals who simply want to become healthier and prevent future problems

These movement deficits result in difficulty walking, muscle weakness, decreased range of motion, muscle paralysis, loss of functional independence as well as compromised balance.

Often these deficits are caused by an orthopedic injury or a neurological disorder or disease or condition. These might include but not limited to,  post surgery,  back pain, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injuries, knee injuries. CVA (stroke), Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or a  spinal cord injury.

We also guide individuals as they go through normal adult aging. resulting in arthritis, osteoporosis, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and balance or vestibular disorders to name a few.

What you can expect at The MAX?

Our main focus at The MAX Therapy Center is to help you achieve your goals whether it be to improve your ability to move, reduce or manage pain, restore function, prevent disability or to reach a fitness goal.

At The MAX our clients journey will begin with an intake form upon scheduling. Once reviewed by our therapist, we will determine if our clinic is the best fit for your needs. Sometimes there are situations that would be treated more effectively in a more specialized setting. We would inform you of this decision before proceeding.

Once the therapist approves your individualized case, a thorough initial evaluation will be your next step.

Our evaluations begin with listening. It will include a review of the patient’s medical history, a review of the patient’s symptoms, and specific PT diagnostic tests and measurements.

Together we will formulate an individual plan of care which includes the goals, planned treatment interventions, proposed frequency and duration of therapy required to attain the goals, and discharge plans as determined by the therapist.

These services are offered as in person sessions, telehealth sessions or a hybrid approach using both models to meet your needs.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy  helps people across the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations).OT's  enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, function, independence and prevent injury or disabilities. We also help people recovering from injury to regain skills, and provide supports for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes.

What can you expect at The MAX?

An individualized evaluation will be conducted through a detailed patient interview. During this process, you or your family member will work along side the OT to determine the deficits so goals may be set. Then through a series of telehealth sessions, customized evidence based interventions  addressing ways to improve your ability to perform daily activities at home and in the community  will be implemented through virtual suggestions and guidance.

The intervention program will be reassessed frequently as strategies are tried and feedback is given to the occupational therapist. The OT will continue to revise the interventions with the end goals in mind. This holistic perspective, in which the focus is on adapting the environment and/or task to fit the person, and the person is an integral part of helping our clients reach their maximum potential together.

These services will be offered through telehealth sessions. A telehealth station will be accessible in our clinic as an option if access is difficult from your home.

Voice—how our voices sound. We may sound hoarse, lose our voices easily, talk too loudly or through our noses, or be unable to make sounds.

Fluency—also called stuttering, is how well speech flows. Someone who stutters may repeat sounds, like t-t-t-table, use "um" or "uh," or pause a lot when talking.

Cognitive-communication—how well our minds work. Problems may involve memory, attention, problem solving, organization, and other thinking skills.
